Privacy Policy
Effective date:
For personal signatures with public-display permission, we display your first name and last initial and eligible roles. If you explicitly accept our updated display notice, we use your full name while you have a verified current candidate, public officeholder or school-board trustee role. Otherwise, including after a role expires, we use your first name and last initial. Earlier permission limited to an abbreviated name stays limited until you explicitly select Allow for public display in your private management form. When you sign, you may optionally provide a city and state under the signing form’s public-display notice. These appear only with display permission. We do not derive a signer’s location from campaign addresses or district routing. Email addresses remain private. Full names remain private unless the verified-role and updated display-permission requirements above are met. You can withdraw public-display permission using your private management link.
Scope and information
This policy describes how the site operator, referred to here as the Administrator, handles information through Unity Statement at unitystatement.org. The service overview describes this website’s features. Specific intake, membership and transaction notices also apply; a narrower promise or permission remains in force. Program affiliation does not give every participant or partner access to every record. This website-specific policy does not replace notices for other services or change permissions previously given for them.
Depending on the service, information includes contact details, community or district, professional or organizational role, interests you provide, participation history, preferences, applications, contributions, and correspondence. This website also uses technical information such as IP addresses, browser details and service interactions. Payment providers handle payment details; transaction records support receipts, administration and applicable recordkeeping.
Public-official research uses identified public sources. Directory inclusion is separate from a private supporter record and does not establish a subscription or endorsement. Reports and applications may contain sensitive information: provide only what is needed and do not include someone else's sensitive details without authority. Confidential incident narratives, government identifiers and payment credentials are not general supporter-profile material.
Ongoing advocacy and communication
The site operator uses information to handle requests, administer programs, verify participation, maintain relationships, improve services, prevent misuse and meet applicable obligations. Relevant supporter and participation records support ongoing advocacy and future campaigns. A campaign ending does not automatically erase the relationship record. Original collection purposes, permissions and restrictions continue to govern its use.
Optional email, phone and text permissions are specific to their channel and scope. Signing a statement, paying, applying, or joining one program does not subscribe you to every communication from the site operator. Necessary messages about a requested action or account are distinct from optional outreach. A privacy-policy update or a later import does not create new permission or cancel an opt-out.
Sharing and publication
Service providers support hosting, communications, payments, accounts, analytics and other features. They receive information needed for those functions; some also process information under their own terms. A specific intake notice identifies any other intended recipient of a report or request. Sharing remains subject to applicable law and the original promises and choices.
Campaign authorization applies to the recipients, message and accompanying identity information presented for review. Public offices may retain or disclose correspondence under their own procedures and obligations; delivered copies cannot be recalled by the site operator. Public display of an endorsement, identity, organization or logo requires the relevant permission and verification. Email permission is separate from public-display permission.
Information may also be disclosed for applicable legal obligations or necessary protective purposes. Such handling must remain limited to its justified purpose and applicable restrictions. An organizational transition does not silently erase earlier privacy promises.
Connected services
Unity Statement’s address lookup and email services are described below and in the service overview. A declared connection or embedded resource may load conditionally; its presence alone does not show what a particular browser transmitted. When a provider feature loads or is used, that provider may receive information needed for the connection or service.
Browser and provider settings offer privacy choices, although restricting essential storage can affect account or payment features. Those settings have different effects; blocking a cookie is not a guarantee that every form of collection stops.
Retention and your choices
Retention depends on the disclosed purpose, the ongoing relationship, sensitivity, current usefulness, your choices and applicable obligations. Relevant supporter history can span campaigns. Tokens, queue contents, temporary inputs and diagnostics have shorter operational purposes. Transaction and compliance records may remain necessary after participation ends. Records without a continuing justified purpose should be removed or deidentified.
You can request access, correction or deletion and change communication or publication choices. Requests may require proportionate identity verification. Applicable legal duties and exceptions determine what must be deleted or retained; future advocacy value alone is not a blanket deletion exception.
- Unsubscribe: stop a program's optional communications or request no optional communications from the site operator. Minimum suppression information remains necessary to honor that choice in future campaigns and imports.
- Withdraw endorsement: end its active status and controlled public display. Limited historical evidence may remain; a separately chosen mailing preference is distinct.
- Remove display: withdraw public visibility while retaining a private endorsement, if desired. Independent copies already held by others are outside the site operator's control.
- Request deletion: ask for erasure separately or together with the other choices. Any retained category needs a continuing lawful reason. Restored backups must carry forward applicable deletion and suppression instructions.
Additional rights depend on the privacy laws applicable to the responsible operator and processing. These choices do not waive any such rights.
Age, security and changes
Unity Statement's first-launch signing, organization submissions and campaign requests require age 18 or older. Parents and educators may participate in their own adult roles. This policy does not offer student or guardian enrollment or invite new student reports. Existing restricted youth and incident records retain their original protections and purposes. Contact the Administrator about information submitted inappropriately so it can be assessed and addressed.
Safeguards should be appropriate to the information and service; no system is completely secure. Required incident notices follow applicable law. Material policy changes will identify the version and effective date and receive any required notice or permission. Earlier restricted information is not automatically available for a newly described use.

Unity Statement services
Signing records your endorsement of the displayed statement version. Email confirmation establishes mailbox control, while official and organization claims require separate review. Sending a request to your school board is a separate action and does not sign the statement or subscribe you to optional updates. You may manage your signature and optional choices using a private email link.
The address field uses Google suggestions when available. Google receives the address text you type into that field and normal connection information, including your IP address. This feature does not send Google your name, email or selected roles. You can edit the address or continue without selecting a suggestion. If suggestions are unavailable, the same field accepts manual entry. Selecting a suggestion keeps the address editable; it does not submit the form or determine your school boards. Choosing Review my message separately sends the address to the U.S. Census Bureau. The application uses the address for this lookup and does not save it in campaign receipts or supporter records.
Google processes suggestions under its Privacy Policy and Google Maps Terms. Census processes the lookup under its privacy policy.
ICDSoft processes requested verification, receipt and signature-management messages, authorized school-board messages and internal district-activation alerts, and hosts Unity’s reply and privacy mailboxes. It receives the message-specific addresses, headers and content needed to deliver or handle the message, together with delivery and error information. It does not receive the entire signing or public-office database through a mail request. Provider service records may be retained under its own terms and settings; application deletion does not establish immediate deletion of provider logs or backups.
The current application uses first-party verification and management links and does not add open-tracking pixels or third-party click redirects. Earlier messages processed through Brevo may remain in its service records, including any recipient-associated delivery, open or click events collected for those messages. Such events can include time, IP address and browser or device information. Email software and automated security checks can affect these measurements; an open or click does not prove that a person read a message. For questions or privacy requests about this processing, contact privacy@unitystatement.org.
We keep relevant, purpose-limited participation, consent and suppression records for ongoing advocacy consistent with the original purposes and permissions and to honor your choices. Short-lived operational data follows a separate schedule: pending unconfirmed intake expires after 7 days; accepted personal signatures do not expire because email remains unconfirmed. Personal-signature receipts remain eligible for delivery for 7 days and their removal links expire after 30 days; fresh private links can be requested from Manage your signature. Verification links for requests that still require them expire after 30 minutes and token hashes are removed within 24 hours after invalidation; encrypted queue bodies and direct delivery addresses are removed within 24 hours after a terminal outcome; delivery diagnostics are retained for 30 days and keyed abuse identifiers for 7 days, except restricted preservation for a documented incident. These application schedules do not determine every provider’s retention. A campaign ending or a display withdrawal does not automatically erase the supporter relationship.
