Terms of Service
Effective date:
Services and participation
These terms concern Unity Statement at unitystatement.org and its civic information, endorsement and advocacy tools, described in the service overview. The site operator is referred to here as the Administrator. Specific feature, membership and transaction terms also apply. These website-specific terms do not replace another service’s terms or alter existing commitments.
Use accurate information and act for yourself or an organization you are authorized to represent. Unity Statement's first-launch signing, organization submissions and campaign requests require age 18 or older. Parents and educators participate in their own adult roles; the present program does not enroll students or guardians on a student's behalf. Reading a statement does not endorse it. An interest signup is not membership, and application or payment does not guarantee approval where review is required.
Protect account credentials and report suspected unauthorized access. Do not impersonate others, falsely claim authority, submit unauthorized sensitive information, harass, introduce malicious code, bypass access restrictions or disrupt service. Automated access must respect applicable law and published interface limits.
Information and content
Unity Statement is independent of government unless expressly identified otherwise. Civic information, district matches and assessments can have coverage and timing limits. Check sources and official procedures and report corrections. A third-party endorsement and the site operator's assessment are separate records. Website use does not create an attorney-client relationship or substitute for voter registration, emergency reporting or a formal agency complaint.
You retain rights you hold in submitted material. You give the site operator a nonexclusive permission to receive, store, review, format and transmit it as reasonably needed for your request, service administration and applicable obligations. Public display, logo use and campaign delivery remain limited to the authorization you give. This is not a general license to publish private applications, contact details or incident reports.
You may link to public pages and share material where its license or applicable law permits. The site operator and other rights holders retain their intellectual-property rights. Do not imply an endorsement or use a logo beyond its permission. Access or submissions may be restricted for eligibility, safety, misuse or legal reasons, subject to applicable privacy, payment and consumer rights.
Feature commitments
- Statements: an endorsement concerns the identified statement version. Personal signatures are accepted after adult assent and duplicate/abuse screening without waiting for email confirmation. A receipt provides a private removal link. Organization authority and official-role claims require separate verification. Display is optional. Organization endorsement, coalition participation and logo permission are distinct. Withdrawal and display-removal requests have separate effects.
- Public-office messages: authorization concerns the reviewed message, recipient scope and identity information. Material group-mailbox or staff recipients must be disclosed. Queued, attempted, failed and confirmed-delivery states must be distinguished. Delivery, reading, response or an outcome cannot be guaranteed. Already-delivered copies cannot be recalled.
- Membership, contributions and events: the applicable offer and checkout terms govern eligibility, price, renewal, cancellation, refunds and approval. These core terms create no new fee, renewal or no-refund rule and do not rewrite existing transaction commitments. They do not represent a contribution as tax-deductible or introduce a separate education-fund operator.
- Reports and communications: specific intake purposes and recipients remain controlling. Email, phone, text and publication choices are distinct. A privacy notice, account or payment does not create every optional permission. Existing narrower commitments and revocation rights remain in force.
Responsibility and changes
Services may be interrupted or contain errors. Third-party platforms and destinations have their own terms. To the extent permitted by law, services are provided as available without additional warranties beyond express commitments. Nothing here limits liability or remedies that applicable law does not permit to be limited. These terms impose no mandatory arbitration, class-action waiver, fixed damages cap or open-ended user indemnity.
Changes identify their version and effective date and receive notice and agreement where required. Posting new terms does not retroactively alter payment commitments or privacy permissions. California law applies subject to mandatory protections available to you. If a provision is unenforceable, the remainder applies to the extent permitted by law.
